“How long will it take to heal?”

This is one of the most commonly asked questions I get from patients and clients I work with in the gym. When you’re dealing with an injury, all you really truly care about is how long it will be until you are back to your 100%. People in pain are dreaming of the life they lived before their injury and they are yearning to get back to doing what they love (and doing what they love without pain or difficulty).

Every injury is different AND every person is different. Healing is impacted by more than just physical components. The chart below indicates AVERAGE healing time for each type of tissue injury, but keep in mind that components that can affect your healing time include: sleep, nutrition, how you view your pain, social aspects impacting how you view your pain/heal, ect…

To get a better understanding of your injury and to make an appropriate and specific plan for your recovery, it is important that you reach out to your primary care or local Physical Therapist to have them run diagnostic tests and help you come up with a treatment plan.

If you are unable to find a local Physical Therapist you trust, sign up for our Prepare and Recover program in our Programming Options tab. We will perform an extensive online analysis of your movement patterns and provide you with a personalized program to help you get back to doing what you love.
